Smoking Machine RM20S

The RM20S is a smoking machine that generates and dilutes cigarette smoke for in vitro cell culture investigations.

The machine was designed collaboratively with the company BAT, Southampton (BAT Science). The RM20S is based on the rotary principle and can smoke four different cigarettes simultaneously. The machine smokes the cigarettes as per ISO and non-ISO conditions, dilutes the smoke and guides the mixture into the cell chambers. The RM20S operates fully automatically and can smoke up to 20 cigarettes successively to enable supplying the cell chambers with diluted smoke gas over several hours.

The machine is fully enclosed and equipped with a suction apparatus, provides the correct air flow adjustment as per ISO 3308. As with all Borgwaldt KC rotary smoking machines, the anemometer for control of the air flow, the electrical lighter, the butt detector and the butt extractor are integrated in the RM20S.
